Competition Finals Games at Pluim Park

Please note that Pluim is shut Friday 5th and Saturday 6th for all games due to heavy rain.  Sunday is doubtful but we wont make the call until Saturday afternoon in case it clears up.  It is extremely important to get the A grade Grand Finals played asap.  All other games in the finals series can be pushed back a week.  Kev will advise what if any games will be played on Sunday.

Please dont ask games to be moved for home field advantages or other reasons, all inquiries are to be sent through your clubs fixtures officer, as you probably realise 24 hours a day is not enough to keep up at the moment

All clubs please be prepared to play night games if required, some Saturday games may be transferred to Sundays

STRIKE FORCE SUCCESS

      Coaching       Strikeforce_logo_39.7kb   Game_1

More than 130 junior players aged between 10 - 15 attended this weeks Strike Force High Performance Clinics at Pluim Park. All players were exposed to many game centred coached games and practices to improve their technical and tactical understanding of the game, and provided the coaching staff with an excellent opportunity to identify potential candidates for Thunder and Lightning Representative programs for 2009.

Many of the players were exposed to similar philosophies and expectations required for participation in Representative leagues and no doubt was an eye opener for both the participants and many of the parents who eagerly looked on. A highlight of the weeks program was the Coach's v Players challenge matches where some dignity was lost on the part of the coaches when they were defeated in their second game in the round (Dispite their best attempts to slightly bend the rules to their advantage).

Several players from this program will be invited to attend Thunder and Lightning training sessions leading to the end of the season for further assessment and trialing processes for Representative programs for next season. Included in this will be inclusion of Under 10 players already identified through local club games and those from Strike Force who have staked a claim for inclusion in TARGET 11 which will commence in August. Target 11 is an 8 week program that will be conducted for 10 year olds targeted for our Under 11 Representative programs in 2009. Approximately 50 players will be invited into this program and will work with Lightning coaching staff for the entirity of the assessment period to establish the necessary playing habits required for our Representative players.
