In 2026, the First Grade ladder will determine relegation from the MPL and promotion to the MPL via Division One. The last placed MPL side will automatically be relegated to Division One in 2027, and replaced by the team who finished the year on top of the Division 1 ladder. The second last placed MPL team will enter a play-off series against the teams who placed 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in Division 1 to determine who will play Premier League football the following year.
