Football clubs across the Central Coast are rejoicing with significant investment in drainage upgrades for Nine Football venues across the region.

The joint investment between CCF, Clubs and Council will see sand grooving drainage works undertaken in the 2022 offseason.

High Quality drainage at sports fields play an important role in facilitating quicker wear recovery, maintaining healthier turf all year round and enabling grounds to re-open faster after wet weather events.

Upgrade works are planned for sports grounds at:

• Alan Davidson Oval (Wyoming FC)
• Baker Park (Wyong SC)
• Duffys Reserve (Terrigal FC)
• Frost Reserve (Kincumber FC)
• Harry Moore Oval (Toukley FC)
• James Browne Oval (Southern & Ettalong United FC)
• Kariong Oval (Kariong FC)
• Kurraba Oval (Berkeley FC)
• Ourimbah Oval (Ourimbah FC)

Central Coast Football CEO Alex Burgin thanked Central Coast Council for its support in delivering these much-needed infrastructure upgrades.

“This season our participants have lost hundreds of hours of playing and training due to the severe weather events and subsequent field closures”

“This combined investment from the Association and our clubs shows the commitment football is willing to make towards council grounds to create better community facilities and enable greater participation or our code”

With Central Coast player numbers expected to grow past 14,000 next season, this upgrade is essential to allow our community the opportunity to continue playing their chosen sport.

Sand grooving drainage works will improve the quality of the fields, making it more enjoyable to play on, limiting field closure and interruptions to seasons. This means our sporting community can have more time on the field and playing the sports they love.

The sand slit drainage system is a means by which the drainage of a natural turf field can be improved without requiring a major reconstruction.

This project is proudly funded in joint by Central Coast Council $114,000, Central Coast Football $75,000 and Our Member Clubs $72,000.
