This weeks Oporto Youth Leagues ‘Match of the Week’ features both the Berkeley Vale Wombats and Umina United sides from the M15B competition.
It’s a first plays second match-up, with the sides meeting for the second time this campaign after the first match ended in a 2-2 draw at Umina Oval.
Last weekends ‘Match of the Week’ saw Ourimbah United host the Kincumber Roos in the U/14D competition at Ourimbah Oval. Ourimbah United ran out 2-1 winners on the day, ensuring that they stayed within one point of the competition lead. Luckily, the loss for Kincumber didn’t impact them too much, as they remained in the all important fourth finals position.
Looking ahead to tomorrows ‘Match of the Week’ at Kurraba Oval, Berkeley Vale will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to 9 matches, having not tasted defeat since losing their round two clash to Kanwal. Currently in first place, a win tomorrow afternoon will see the Wombats extend their lead over Umina to 9 points, however the Eagles do have two games in hand.
Similarly to their opponents, Umina will also be looking to extend their unbeaten run during this weekends match. The Eagles haven’t tasted defeat since going down to the East Gosford Rams back in round three, with this unbeaten run including the 2-2 draw that the sides played out back in round four. Currently six points behind leaders Berkeley Vale, a win tomorrow would see them cut that to just three points, and with two games still up their sleeves could certainly place them in a great position with finals looming.
