This weeks Oporto Youth Leagues ‘Match of the Week’ has been chosen from the W/14B’s competition, with fifth placed Berkeley Vale hosting fourth placed Woongarrah at Kurraba Oval. With just three matches remaining in the 2019 season, a win for Woongarrah will see them ensure themselves a finals position, whilst a Berkeley Vale win will move them just two points away from a spot in the finals.
Last weekend’s Oporto Youth Leagues ‘Match of the Week’ saw Umina United gunning for the league championship when they faced second placed Wyoming. Congratulations to Umina who, after a 4-0 victory, wrapped up their league championship as shown in the photo below. Having won eight of their fifteen fixtures so far this campaign, Woongarrah have experienced a very successful season to date. Currently fourth on 25 points, the Wildcats are gearing up for their third meeting with Berkeley Vale this season. The first, the ‘Cats ran out big winners, defeating Berkeley Vale 8-1. The second meeting between the two was a much closer affair, playing out a 1-1 draw at Hamlyn Terrace. A win this weekend will ensure that Woongarrah secure a place in the 2019 finals series.
Berkeley Vale have also experienced a good 2019 season, winning six of their fifteen matches to see them currently placed fifth on 20 points. If they want to play in this seasons finals series they need to avoid defeat in Sunday’s match. Berkeley Vale have been in fairly good form over recent weeks, winning three of their last five matches as they look to move within two points of a finals position with two matches to play.
