This weeks Oporto Youth Leagues ‘Match of the Week’ takes us to the Mens U/16C competition.
First placed Kanwal welcome fourth placed Umina who make the long trip north to Wadalba Sports Complex.
Last weeks ‘Match of the Week’ involved Budgewoi and Killarney from the Womens 14/A competition. Third placed Killarney headed to fourth placed Budgewoi as they looked to close the gap between themselves and the top two sides. However it was Budgewoi who would prevail in this clash, running out 2-1 winners to draw them level on points with their opponents. Congratulations to both sides on playing out a tight, well contested match.
After opening the season with a loss, first placed Kanwal have remained undefeated throughout the following 7 weeks of the season leading up to this weekend, only dropping points in a 1-1 draw with Kariong United last weekend. The match between the Bulls and the Umina Eagles this weekend will be the second time that the sides have met this season, with Kanwal emerging victorious in round two after a 1-0 win. 6-0 and 7-0 victories earlier in the season have seen them shoot to the top of the table on goal difference.
Umina have had a fairly conservative start to the season, winning three matches and losing three matches, with a draw sandwiched in the middle. However, they’ve managed two straight victories for the first time this season so they’ll enter tomorrows match full of confidence!
